The number of people taking summit trips during the winter has risen notably in recent decades and safety concerns surrounding the practice of this sport is attracting increasing attention. Many people have a strong desire to learn more about avalanches and snow in order to benefit even more from their experiences in the winter mountains. The proprietors of Romsdal Lodge have undergone comprehensive training in mountaineering and outdoor pursuits. Ida have a bachelor in outdoors and Bjørn is a certified Mountain Guide IFMGA / UIAGM. All this, in combination with Romsdal Lodge’s wonderful location, means that through Skredtunet we can offer something in Norway that is totally unique. We offer packages including accommodation, guiding, courses, equipment hire and avalanche training in one and the same place.
- A well-equipped meeting room for trip planning and avalanche theory.
- Skiing and avalanche equipment for groups (skis, boots, skins, poles, transmitters/receivers, spades and avalanche probes).
- Buddy rescue park at the farm with buried transmitters for practising buddy rescue.
The aim of Skredtunet’s buddy rescue park is to provide effective training for real-life situations. The theory part of the course is held in the meeting room at Romsdal Lodge, while the practical part takes place directly outside the meeting room in a floodlit buddy rescue park. This allows us to compress the course content and the communication of critical knowledge for people wishing to hike in safety in the mountains during winter.
Welcome to an informative stay at Skredtunet!
We organise avalanche, skitouring, ice climbing and firstaid courses at every level. Locals are also invited to evening workshops.
The following course dates have been set for winter 2019
